The Westgate Pavilion is a 4,000-square-foot modern residence in Bend, Oregon—deeply influenced by the spatial clarity and indoor-outdoor ethos of mid-century modern architecture, reinterpreted for the Pacific Northwest.
Organized as a series of low, horizontal volumes, the home is anchored by a central living space oriented toward expansive southern views. Floor-to-ceiling glazing and a covered rear patio extend daily life outward, creating a seamless connection between interior and landscape.
Two flanking wings define the plan. One contains guest bedrooms and a private office, while the other extends outward as a cantilevered volume housing the primary suite—projecting over the landscape and establishing a sense of quiet separation. Below, a walk-out lower level unfolds beneath the cantilever, introducing a second primary suite alongside a series of recreational and wellness-focused spaces.
Health and well-being are foundational to the design. The home is constructed with a fully natural, low-toxicity material palette, eliminating VOCs and prioritizing long-term environmental and human health. The lower level functions as a private retreat, featuring a cold plunge, sauna, steam shower, and game room—spaces designed to support restoration, ritual, and daily use.
Material selections are warm, restrained, and enduring—reinforcing a sense of calm and permanence throughout. Every element is considered to support both individual well-being and collective experience.
The result is a modern wellness-focused home in Bend, Oregon—one that fosters connection to self, to family, and to community, while remaining grounded in the landscape of Central Oregon.
