Set on a two-acre bluff just above Henry’s Beach in Santa Barbara, the Bluff House is conceived as a quiet, enduring presence—rooted in land, horizon, and time. With unobstructed views south to the Channel Islands, the architecture is intentionally low and earthen, designed to feel inseparable from its coastal setting.

The home is organized around a central living space defined by full-height glazing on both sides—framing arrival to the north and expansive ocean views to the south. A primary wing extends to one side, with secondary spaces to the other, creating a balanced, horizontal composition that follows the contours of the site.

Materiality is restrained and permanent. The exterior is formed entirely in vertical board-formed concrete, establishing a sense of weight and longevity. Inside, the palette is deliberately minimal: a single species of white oak, limewashed walls, and select natural stones—including Calacatta Viola marble and Roman travertine—chosen for their depth and quiet variation. Custom steel doors and windows from Italy reinforce the precision and clarity of the architecture.

In collaboration with landscape architect Rob Maday of Bosky, the surrounding meadow is carefully restored and shaped—allowing the home to settle into the land as though it has always been there.

The result is a modern coastal residence in Santa Barbara—timeless, grounded, and deeply connected to place.
